The Fat Fish Restaurant
Interior Design and soft furnishing project
It is with real pleasure that I can write this letter and offer my opinion! Heather Hensley and her team have been a huge part of my business for the past 14 years. Hensley Interiors were tasked with the interior design of the Fat Fish Restaurant in Plettenberg Bay. A relationship that has now stood the test of 4 different projects. Heather on all occasions has clearly understood my brief yet managed to work in her own clearly defined idea of styling and trend. A continual desire to have bespoke elements has become her trademark in our projects. Heather and her team are professional, committed and just simply a wonderful group of people to work with. Most importantly their ability to communicate ideas and changes to me timeously was greatly appreciated. Placed under immense pressure, Hensley Interiors has never missed a deadline. Largely due to Heather’s onsite management and management of suppliers. Does it always go smoothly on a project? Almost never!! Heather has an innate ability to stay calm and focused when builders, plumbers and painters are causing havoc! Heather has worked on two new build projects with me, Fat Fish Plett and Fat Fish George, from start to the finished product. Recently we have completed entire interior and some exterior renovations of the above properties, with great success. Over and above this Heather has assisted with some home décor and design elements. I would not hesitate to recommend Hensley Interiors for any project from ground up or simple interior refurbishments. “We embarked on an ambitious project last year, to turn two dilapidated buildings into an 8 bedroomed boutique hotel. Heather and her very competent team provided us with excellent service, from architectural design, furniture, room layout to colour selection. She is very accomplished – from concept to installation. She is creative and is also mindful of budget restraints which I appreciated. She is confident with colour and clever with its usage. Heather is also very conscious of deadlines, and the project came in under budget and on time. The end result is stunning, and we are absolutely thrilled with it.”

“ I cannot recommend Heather highly enough! I usually refuse to work with interior designers and prefer to source stuff myself because too often I feel bullied/ misunderstood/ripped off/ time delays are too long from ordering to delivery when I have used decorators in the past. But Heather is extremely diligent, price sensitive, efficient and generally goes beyond the call of duty. An example: we just could not find a set of bar stools that made the entire Roy clan happy (18 of us with 4 strong matriarchs). Heather listened carefully to all our needs, searched and made several suggestions but never forced the issue and eventually found chairs that were perfect except they were chairs, not bar stools, so she persuaded the manufacturer that they can be modified specially for us to create a set of bar stools. She is a great communicator on email sending wonderful story boards and articulating her concerns and likes and dislikes so well that she can be briefed from afar and you hardly need to speak. Most importantly, if you like Tess, you will like Heather – their styles and professional commitment are similar and they work so well as a team. They are also both lovely people to spend time with, an added bonus in the fraught business of building! Good luck with your build, I know it will be beautiful. “

“ We called on Heather when we were a bit lost during our complete overhaul of a house in Keurboomstrand. She immediately stepped in and assisted, mostly with interior design, but also some interior decorating. Heather’s fresh and original ideas combined very well with our own. She takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary. Everything turned out beautifully and we are extremely happy with the final product.
