The team at Hensley Interiors consists of Heather, Lynette and Windsor,  and our affiliates Tessa and Glenn.

Heather HensleyHeather Hensley

Heather qualified as a textile designer and won a bursary in 1991. She spent many years designing fabrics for the commercial industry, such as the Woolworths, Ackermans and Edgars She also designed for Margaret Roberts, the doyenne of the SA herb industry. At times Heather’s design skills have served businesses in overseas markets such as Australia & New Zealand.

She was also fortunate enough to design curtaining and upholstery fabric ranges for two interior associated companies, Block ‘n Chisel (an upmarket furniture store) and The Jay Smith Collection, an interior design company based in Cape Town.

At various stages during her interior design career Heather has printed textiles in her own capacity, the first being a fabric collection with a Shabby Chic flavour (2001), and 12 years later a more graphic range of simple geometric shapes for beach gear, which can be seen in the product development category.

Her interior design career started in 1999 after working for the renowned Jay Smith Interiors in Cape Town. “I was initially hired to design their fabrics, but soon fell into designing interior spaces using my constructional drawing skills, working with architects and various tradesmen for Jay Smith.”

In 1999 Heather started her own business in Cape Town. She then spent 2003 to 2010 raising her children, and during that period moved to the coastal town of Plettenberg Bay. “Having very itchy fingers, I began slowly again, from scratch, to break into the very competitive and over-supplied market in this small town.”

The interior design section of her business has grown steadily and was complemented in 2013 with the development of the Beachyheads beach accessory range.

“The vision is to offer a variety of services in addition to interior design.”
